Greetings fellow shooters,
With Summer in full swing and the Western Zone Telephonic Shoot upon us; some shooters are planning for their winter travels to the “Great State of Arizona”. The Arizona State Trapshooting Board of Directors are already planning for the Hall of Fame Shoot and the Arizona State Shoot of 2019. With this in mind we would like to share some news to help keep everyone informed for the 2018 / 2019 season.
After several discussions led by Doug Sims (Southern Zone Director); the ASTA Board of Directors voted to lower the ASTA Daily Fee to $2.00 for the 2018 / 2019 season effective September 1, 2018. This is a trial basis for this season.
The Autumn Grand, The Spring Grand, along with the 2019 Arizona State Shoot will all be hosted by Tucson Trap and Skeet Club and the Facility along with the workers on the front line and behind scenes always make the larger shoots most enjoyable.
We have received most of the shoot date applications and have posted the schedule to our web site calendar for the 2018 / 2019 shooting season. Most clubs have committed their dates by sending in their applications; you will notice some of the dates are marked (PENDING), these dates we have yet to receive the application for the requested dates.
With that being said; one of the clubs that have yet to turn in their application is the Ben Avery Clay Target Center. The BACTC is owned and operated by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. As we all know Government Departments are subject to very stringent rules and regulations.
In order to inform everyone with the facts and to stop the rumor mill; I spoke with Jonathan McCraw (the manager of BACTC), and was told they have made several attempts to secure a vendor to handle the ATA Trap Shoots at the BACTC for the 2018 / 2019 season; unfortunately they have not been able to secure anyone yet. Jonathan also stated that they are committed to having all the scheduled trap shoots until all avenues have been exhausted. They will continue to work to serve the BACTC customers to the best of their ability. Jonathan also said that should anyone have any questions or concerns he would be happy to talk with anyone.
I will add his contact information at the end, and as always; should you have any questions for the ASTA Board please feel free to contact myself or any board member and we will do our best to answer your questions, if the answer is not forthcoming we will find the answer for you or give you the contact information to find your answer.
Thank you for being our Dedicated and Loyal Arizona Shooters,
Ben Avery Clay Target Center
